Reducing NOx emmisions through co-firing biosolids with other fuels.

Biosolids are delivered to Mitsubishi's Lucerne Valley Cushenberry Plant by Liberty Transport. Biosolids are off loaded into a reception hopper and then conveyed using a positive displacement pump to  preheater/precalciner. In the heating/combustion process Ammonia is released from the biosolids reacting with combustion gases.   The reaction with the gases reduces the NOx emissions producing Nitrogen and Water as by products.  Co-firing biosolids with other fuels significantly reduces N0x emissions.  We have successfully co-fired more than 200,000 tons of biosolids for beneficial purposes since 1994 at this location.
